I would expect that when both contacts are shown as online, a synchronisation between both devices takes place. Both in this case between me and my contact, and between me and my computer if the latter is also online with me at the same time.

# Original post
Issue Summary:
Currently, in Jami user profile section, there is a red circle indicator displayed underneath the user's name. Users may express confusion regarding the meaning of this indicator, assuming it signifies a "Do Not Disturb" (DND) mode. However, the red circle actually indicates that the user is offline. This misinterpretation has led to users misunderstanding the availability status of others, resulting in potential communication gaps and disrupted collaboration. This issue aims to rectify the miscommunication by addressing the misleading nature of the red circle status indicator.
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch the software and navigate to the user profile section.
Get offline.
Observe the red circle indicator displayed under the user's name.
Note the user's assumption that the red circle signifies a "Do Not Disturb" mode.
Expected Behavior:
The red circle status indicator should accurately reflect the user's availability status as "offline."
Actual Behavior:
Users will interpret the red circle status indicator as representing a "Do Not Disturb" mode, leading to confusion and potential miscommunication. They won't know they are offline and will have a headache trying to figure out why Jami isn't working properly.
Proposed Solution:
Evaluate the current visual representation of the offline status indicator.
Design a new visual indicator that conveys the "offline" status more effectively, without implying a "Do Not Disturb" mode.
Conduct user testing to ensure the new indicator aligns with users' mental models and reduces the likelihood of misinterpretation.
Implement the revised status indicator, keeping in mind the Nielsen heuristics for user interface design.
Retest the software to verify that the new indicator provides clear and accurate information regarding user availability.
Impact:
Addressing this issue will enhance user experience by preventing misinterpretation of the status indicator and promoting effective communication and collaboration among users. It aligns with the principles of the Nielsen heuristics, specifically focusing on user control and freedom, consistency, and visibility of system status.
Additional Information:
The expectation of the red circle as a "Do Not Disturb" mode is based on users' familiarity with popular communication platforms such as Discord, Teams, and Mattermost, which utilize similar indicators.
The revised status indicator should maintain simplicity and clarity while avoiding any potential for misinterpretation.
Consider seeking feedback from users during the design and testing process to ensure their expectations and mental models are effectively addressed.Sébastien BlinSébastien Blinhttps://git.jami.net/savoirfairelinux/jami-client-qt/-/issues/1134Playback speed selection window cut off2023-05-26T19:37:09ZannaPlayback speed selection window cut off![1](/uploads/a0e437a0e052166045ad1a24f5978c01/1.png)

1. Should the tooltip to `Show Formating` and `Hide Formating` be changed to `Show formatting toolbar` and `Hide formatting toolbar`, respectively?
2. Should the tooltips be in sentence case? For consistency with the other Jami tooltips in the chat area, i.e. `Send file`, `Add emoji`, `Leave audio message`, `Share location`.
![Show formatting](/uploads/21cadc4fd2459f0a430d3c64c781e97a/image.png)
![Hide formatting](/uploads/66947bf2d9d2686c24ed4e1224f0a33d/image.png)
## Rationale
1. Does formatting refer to the text. If the formatting is hidden, then would the text be shown in plain text?
Show formatting | Hide formatting
--- |---
Some **text** | Some text
2. This can also visually impaired people operate Jami as the tooltip has a better description which can help with screen readers.
3. Typo? Does `formating` have a double `t` to be `formatting`?
4. Without context, could `formatting` be confused with `formatting marks`?<br>
