[Android/F-Droid] Missing UI language setting in the application

How to report a bug

One bug = one bug report

If you have multiple issues, please file separate bug reports. It will be much easier to track bugs that way.

Avoid duplicates

Search for similar problem - update existing issue instead of creating new one.

Bug report form

Describe your environment

Please specify the following:

  • Jami version:20250925-01
  • Device model:Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro
  • Android version:11
  • What build you are using: F-droid

Steps to reproduce

  • Can you reproduce the bug: at will
  • Steps:
  • 1. Open the Jami application.
  • 2. Navigate to the Settings menu.
  • 3. Look for an option to change the application's language to one that is different from the system language.
  • Actual result:The application uses the system language by default and provides no setting to manually select a different language for the Jami interface.
  • Expected result:A language selector should be available in the settings (e.g., under "Settings" > "Appearance" or "General"), allowing the user to override the system language and choose any supported language for the Jami UI independently.

Additional information

While the app correctly uses the system language, the lack of a manual override limits usability for multilingual users or those who wish to use the app in a language different from their system setting.
