Call control buttons disappear in Xubuntu 19.04

Hello, I've noticed that in Xubuntu 19.04 the call control buttons (end call, toggle mic on/off etc.) disappear a second after a call is answered or the other party answers. This happens both when placing a call and when answering a call. In addition, the right-click menu doesn't show up, nor does the elapsed time of the call, which would normally show up in the upper right corner. This effectively means the Xubuntu user has little to no control during a call, he/she can only end the call by closing the jami window, but that's about it. No toggling the text message window on/off during a call, for example.
