Problem with registering username during initial setup

I try to create a new account (and first on this machine) on Jami (version 1.0.7649.31807, downloaded directly from jami.net) on Windows 10 Home (fresh install). Unfortunately, when I try to setup Jami account (welcome screen -> Create Jami account), every username I enter gets rejected as invalid. I have tried entering long, pure gibberish "username", unlikely to be taken now. I have also tried checking availability of wanted username thru http://ns.jami.net/name/... and got confirmation that name is not registered yet. When started from command line with -d switch, I get:

[1609002403.095|11164|namedirectory.cpp :449 ] Could not load C:\Users\jacek\.cache\jami\namecache\ns.jami.net lookup name is INVALID: "J" "" lookup name is INVALID: "Ja" "" lookup name ERROR: "Jacek" "" lookup name ERROR: "JacekS" "" lookup name ERROR: "JacekSt" "" ...and so on.

INVALID lookups are of course too short, but then come ERRORs... Name "Jacek" seems to be registered, but starting with JacekS with following chars there are no conflicting usernames, according to ns.jami.net/name/

I have manually added Jami to firewall (a builtin system one, no third party) as allowed in private and public networks.

There was no path C:\Users\jacek\.cache\jami\namecache\ (in fact, even .cache was nonexistent). I've created the path manually, but it did not help and nothing gets created in the directory "namecache".

It seems someone has already encountered this (or similar) problem: https://forum.jami.net/t/username-problem/217

Unfortunately, I rarely use Windows, so I may have overlooked something.
