Unable to link account - mobile and MX Linux

Hi I set up a Jami account on my android phone with no issues I'm running MX Linux and installed "ring" via my package manager, install ok Went to add my account to the install on Linux, entered password generated on mobile, and all I'm seeing is the "Retrieving your Ring account..." circle turning. I left it for 5 minutes, no change. Quit Ring and tried again, no change. Uninstalled and reinstalled Ring, tried again, same thing.
