Jami on Local Network

Why does Jami need internet to work? I have been testing the application on a community network that has no internet access but the application does not allow registration, what should I do to make it work without internet access? Thank you

You don't need internet to work.

In the next releases we will improve a lot this behavior with auto-bootstraping (already in the code but not enabled) + peer discovery (the PR is in review), but for now it's configurable manually in the settings.

Jami when connecting, have to join the Jami network, this is done via a bootstrap (bootstrap.jami.net in the settings of the account). If you want to have Jami working in a local network, you need to connect to a local bootstrap node (https://opendht.net). So you can open your clients, add your local bootstrap in the settings (or wait for the auto-bootstraping which will come soon I think) and that's all, you will be able to use Jami on a LAN.

Note: Because ns.jami.net is our nameserver, without internet, you will not be able to recover username, just IDs, unless you use a local nameserver.
