Difficult to visualy dissociate replied message from the reply message

Looking on design specification, should look like this :

If we add an intern border, it will reduce the size of reply interaction and looks like a shift to the left compared to the standard interaction :

That's why I think we need to display only top and left border (like in red):

Maybe can be done using two layers (same ones but shifter vertically and horizontally by border size) :

Looks like what have been done in FB Messenger for smileys and isonline status ... Will not be a clean solution if the background can be changed to an image one day.
