(Original title: There is no language setting and we should have one)
I very much prefer to have my programs in english, or their native language should I understand that, but I came across the issue that I don't see any language selection setting anywhere in the Windows client (at least), and for me that sucks. I managed to solve the problem by quite literally going into the programs folders and destroying the language files for my country, but this is very much a rough solution not everyone, especially "normal people" are willing to do. If Jami is to grow further, simple settings like this should be there in the first place.
Adding a language setting will make for a notable improvement in user experience (which is how apps get all the people in the first place), and will let people just flip a switch should they be unhappy with the translation to their language.
That is all.

Yes, I mean language preference settings. Pretty much every other solid multi-language software I have has one (Even if it's just between english and japanese) or has some simple method of choosing the language you want, without having to change the setting that changes the entire system language.
As for including system default, that is entirely up to the team, as long as it's not a hassle to change the language.

Shouldn't people help improve the translation to their language at https://www.transifex.com/savoirfairelinux/jami/? That way everyone in their language can use the program as not everyone is blessed to know more than one language.
If you are not already doing so, please help translate Jami at:

This sentiment is a valid one, and then there's me that put Steam to english even though they have a perfectly competent norwegian translation. Yeah, it's preference for me, mostly. Makes tutorials easier to follow, too.

I'll maybe take a look, but due to the same issue of preferring english, especially with INTL programs, my norwegian skills aren't the best. If I end up power-using Jami I'll def try to provide.
Should the title of this issue be updated from There is no language setting and we should have one to something like Language preference setting?
Yes, this is a sensible title change. I think it should be edited now.
System default option should be available

I thank you in advance for kindly translating Jami. Your translation of Jami will help Norwegians have a communications platform in their native language that has a foundation which respects the freedoms and the privacy of its users.

It has been said that we are in a technological revolution which is greater, and will occur quicker, than the industrial revolution.
Please don't wait until you are a power-user as it may never happen unless market share is established at the nascent stage.
Changed the language to Deutsch made a call then changed it back to System (i.e. English) and the German remained in the chatview as shown in red in the image below.
Chatview's position in calls drop-down remained as magyar as shown in the image below.
As English, Australia is not defined in Jami, could this be a bug?
Are you able to reproduce? and please fix?
Thank you
Edit: Seems that English, Australia is not the problem as when the User interface language is changed to British English it still shows in magyar (Hungarian)
Triple-click on the label User interface language and the label is highlighted (as shown in the image below).
This also happens when triple-clicking on the label Chatview's position in calls.
Is this the expected behavior as all the other labels do not allow this to happen?
Should these two label not be able to be selected or should all the other labels be enabled to be selected?
Double-clicking selects the word.
Thank you
If the label is too long, it should have an ellipsis. Please see red underline in the images below.

Seems to work correctly in the English locale; however, doesn't work correctly for the hu (magyar - Hungarian) locale. Perhaps the length of the string is taken from the English source string, not the string which is being shown?
