(Swarm <-> Non-Swarm?) Sending text messages and/or attachments never works

It does not only involve attachments but also simple text messages (See: jami-client-android#1053 (closed) )

does NEVER work (even if you add the Non-Swarm Contact (Version 20210521-01; your same user account) again):

(Android:) Sometimes you receive an invite to add the same contact (that should receive the text message) again.

But you never get any text message.

EDIT: However, you can make voice and/ or video calls without any problems.

Swarm/Non swarm should not exists. It's totally incompatible backends

If a non swarm message send a message, the peer downgrades the conversation to a non swarm mode and delete the Swarm. So I just don't get your scenario. Moreover 20210521-01 is greatly deprecated and play store/fdroid got up to date versions since then. So to me it's:

1. Unclear scenario
2. Wontfix anyway

A conversation is a swarm or not. Both are still possible, but "Swarm <-> Non-Swarm" doesn't exists. It's 2 different things.

So you click on Contact details "Is swarm: true".

And it's not possible to send a text message to someone who has "Contact details: Is swarm: False"?

if it's true, it's a swarm, the other device will not have the conversation as it's an old backend without support. If the other peer sends a text message it will downgrade the swarm to a non swarm conversation (remove it and be a non swarm)

One last question: The first time I used a Swarm-capable version of Jami I had to delete my user name from my device / contact list (Is swarm: False) and add it again (Is swarm: True).

Would it be possible to keep the old contact and use "Is swarm: False" forever so I can send messages to people who don't have a new version of Jami?

For now, the old path still work and is supported. However we will force the migration one day (when an archive button will be added probably).

Note that anyway, if a peer got an old version, this will decrease a lot the experience for all part of the conversation (old security path, old features, incompatible features set)
