There is no visual congruence between Settings icons

In the main window you can see a gear to enter the settings.

In the settings view you can see a check mark to get back to the main window.

Both buttons are labeled "Settings".

For me this seens to be - visually and logically - a huge gap for users.

Any ideas to make it more congruent? E.g. an arrow button that indicates back to main window? ...

btw. just saw that the chat view has an "Hide chat view" arrow back button as well. Is it the same you use for the new "Leave settings page" button? Or would it make sense to use the same for both actions here?

Nop it's not the same button. This is one is used to... hide the chat view, and go the welcome view. We don't want that when leaving settings.

We can't really do that, your buttons outside the chatview depends on your gtk-theme, and in the chatview it's directly svg.

Note: on my computer, it's exactly the same button for example.

so the buttons from the settings page depend on my gtk-theme, while the buttons inside the chat view depend on Ring's theme? i am not talking about window decorations here ...

And as I said, one is from gtk, the other in the chatview nop. The first one depends on your gtk theme, the second is from the code

ok, so why does it work like this?

stock-icon from gtk are the only ones good for gtk app (the color changes with the theme or when a button is toggled) so this is used in the app.

But it seems there is no way to load from stock in a webpage.

Yes, its kinda unrelated. We're not going to use icons from the stock in the chatview.
